Moving Day!

The truck was in front of our house before 8 AM and they were finished loading by 2:30. Arne and I spent the day cleaning as they finished an area. Actually, Arne did most of the cleaning, scrubbing the whole floor. That's a BIG job! I spent a lot of time trying to find places for all the little s*** that seemed to be multiplying.

While most of the good-byes hadn't made me cry, I became sad as we headed down the 101 and passed the 202, where we usually turn to visit Lisa, Nick and Taylor. My eyes teared, my nose dripped and they continued to do so until well past Casa Grande as it finally hit me that I'm moving 2100 miles from my family and friends. Thank God for airplanes!

Arne had to go through a box of golf club papers that he'd collected the last 14 years so we got a late start to our first stop...Tucson. We arrived at our motel at 9:30. I had popcorn for dinner and Arne ate nothing. We'll be ready for the breakfast they serve.

  1. 'Bout time it hit you! It hit the rest of us the moment you guys said you were moving to Florida! I cannot imagine how tired the two of you must be. Drive safely!

  2. I am sad also. It was great having my two sisters in the same location even though I only made it down to Phoenix occasionally. Now that I am retired, I had hoped to make it each winter for a few weeks. Now I don't know what to do. Every other year probably with each of you. Oh my!!!! Be safe and be happy.

  3. Marla, what can I say...I'm slow thinkin'.

Jan, Marla is still working so you can spend next winter in Florida with all the other retirees. LOTS of activities. You'd love it! Maybe Marla can get a week off and join us. :-)

  4. Your hard shell is also what made it very weird for me. Neither one of you seemed to care about leaving as much as getting to your "new life."

For me it has been hitting me sporadically. Hit me today as I drove to Prescott and passed Carefree Highway. I imagined someone else in my MOm and Dad's house...
The reason my CEFPI friends bought me a massage is because they thought something was wrong with me. Then I heard Lee tell someone it was because my parents abandoned me:) Which sounds funny for an adult, however, it is part of the theme of my relationship with my parents...
I love you and miss you. Taylor had a really tough week at camp - called every couple hours - homesick and ended up really sick.

    Can't wait til Colorado...
