Seems like it was just the end of August. Temperatures have cooled way down in the mornings, requiring me to wear a light jacket even for pickleball. Today after basketball, I stayed for volleyball practice. The coach wanted me to give it another try. As one of the regulars pointed out..."You can't teach tall, and you're tall." They'll try to use me at the net, if I can get my timing down for the slam and block.
Arne and I saw "Driver" yesterday. I thought it was very well done, almost "artsy" in its use of music and dialogue, or lack of it. The main character, played by Ryan Gosling, didn't have much to say. While he was a man of few words, he was a dynamite driver. There's lots of blood and violence but I don't mind that when the bad guys are getting the brunt of it.
Today I saw my first Rugby match, on TV. I like it better than football. The ball looks like a football but bounces like a nerf ball. Moves soooo much faster and no quarterback needed. That would be good news for the Bears and Florida Gators, who lost a couple of quarterbacks in last night's game against Alabama. Talked to a pickleball player from England and he said the players are 220 pounds of muscle and can run 100 yards in 13 seconds. He also mentioned that many of them have broken noses and cauliflower ears. No helmets on these guys and no spare tires!!
